My Aim in Therapy

My aim in therapy is to provide support to individual clients seeking awareness and knowledge in understanding thy self.
Utilising a humanistic existential approach, I explore tools to help my clients cope with and manage potential neurosis that may become burdensome in their life.
I adapt my therapy to the needs of the client and believe a collaborative approach leads to empowerment.

Therapy often includes the exploration of childhood or adult events and relationships that may create psychological symptoms and affect how individuals perceive themselves and the outside world. Such symptoms can include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Self-esteem issues
  • Difficulty relating to others
  • Anger
  • Lack of motivation
  • Grief and loss
  • Trauma
  • Difficulty coping with change (personal or work-related)

Counselling Models Used

The main therapeutic models I use include:

  • Psycho-dynamic psychotherapy (exploration of the psyche)
  • Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), including mindfulness-based strategies or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Solution-Focused Therapy (goal-oriented)
  • Emotion-Focused Therapy (person-centred therapy)

Areas of Interest

My interests lie in empowering workers experiencing low self-esteem or increased anxiety resulting from workplace pressures. These may include:

  • Bullying or harassment
  • Victimisation
  • Redundancy
  • Changes at work
  • Shift work
  • Changes in workplace culture
  • Increased expectations of work performance

My experience within Emergency Services, Employee Assistance Programs, and industrial settings has instilled a passion for helping workers become empowered and, where possible, adapt to and cope with an ever-changing workforce.
