General practice is an effective primary health care discipline that applies rigorous scientific medical training with the ability to apply the evidence appropriately in a community setting. A General Practitioner is the first point of contact for personal health care needs at every stage of life, taking a whole person approach to care. They provide advice and education on a variety of health care needs and services.

Appointments
Patients are seen by appointment. Walk-ins will be seen as soon as possible although patients with appointments will be given priority.
Emergencies
A seriously ill patient will always receive immediate attention. Please let reception know if you are experiencing any chest pain, shortness of breath, bleeding, or head injury.
All emergencies are encouraged to call 000. For after hours, nurse on call is available on 1300 6060 24 or for home visit please call the National Home Doctor on 13 SICK (74 25).
We are fully accredited with TAC and WorkSafe for motor vehicle and work related injuries.
Pathology
Glengala Health has a 4Cyte Pathology collection service on site. An appointment is not required for most tests and waiting times can vary depending on patient demand. Please refer directly to the 4Cyte Pathology website for further information regarding tests.

Test Results
Test results will not be given over the phone. They can only be given in a follow-up appointment and interpreted by the doctor.
Billing
Glengala Health is a mixed billing practice with only patients under 15 years of age and concession card holders being bulk billed. Private patients need to finalise their accounts at the time of consultation. We accept payment by cash, EFTPOS, Mastercard and Visa. The clinic can submit claims on the patient’s behalf for those claiming a Medicare rebateable item.
Please note that different fees will be charged for services including but not limited to complex consultations, mental health care plan preparation, pregnancy testing, dressings and procedures.
Medical examinations including those for insurance, pre-employment, commercial driving licenses and superannuation are not eligible for a Medicare rebate and must be paid in full at time of consultation.

- Private Patient – All patients over 15 years or non-concession card holders, with/without a Medicare card
- Private Patients 15 years and under – All patients 15 years and under without a concession card, with/without a Medicare card
- Concession Patients – includes Pensioner Cards, DVA (Department of Veteran Affairs), Health Care Card and Commonwealth Seniors Card holders
